Connie passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND.

Connie Lynn Elhard was born March 9, 1956 in Jamestown, ND, the daughter of Ruben and Elaine (Herr) Elhard. As a young girl, Connie moved to Fargo where she attended grade school. After graduating from Bismarck High School in 1974, she attended Bismarck Community College from 1974-1976, transferred to Moorhead State University and graduated as a Speech Language Pathologist in 1979. After graduation, Connie moved to Taylor and began working for the Richardton Taylor School System in the fall of 1979. On December 14, 1979, Connie and Jay Elkin were married in Bismarck, ND. To this union three children were born: Carrie, Katie and Richard. She loved her children dearly, yet she had a great love for the children she taught as well. Connie was the glue that held her family together; she always wanted everyone to be happy. Her most recent happiest day was Friday, October 26 when her granddaughter, Emma Lynn was born to Katie and Zared. Connie enjoyed living on the farm, having her garden, and driving the 4-wheeler around the farm. She kept her home and yard maintained to perfection. Connie enjoyed spending time with her girls but she truly loved to be with Richie and his events. Everyone knew that when you saw Connie on the farm you would also find Jack, the Border Collie and Scotchie, the cat at her side. Connie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Richardton.

Connie is survived by her mother, Elaine Mitzel of Fargo; her husband, Jay of Taylor; son, Richard of Taylor; daughters, Katie (Zared) Lefor of Dickinson, and Carrie Elkin of Taylor; sisters, Lanie (Dennis) Nolte of Moorhead, MN, and Bonnie Floyd of Dallas, TX; and granddaughter, Emma Lynn Lefor of Dickinson.
