Funeral Services for Connie R. Geving, 71, of Plevna, MT will be at 10:00 a. m. Friday, August 31, 2007 at American Lutheran Church in Baker, MT with Pastors Bruce & Reba Kolasch officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Bonnievale Cemetery at Baker. Visitation will be 10:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. in the Chapel. Connie passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker. Connie Ronald Geving was born on March 12, 1936 the son of William and Emma (Mulkey) Geving in Baker, MT. His mother soon passed away due to complications of his birth. For the first 6 years of his life, he lived with his Aunt and Uncle Lottie and Frank LaBree in Ekalaka MT. After Connie?s father remarried, he moved back to Baker to live on the family farm. Connie attended the Clark Country School, Baker Public School and worked on the family farm. Connie enjoyed going to Plevna basketball games. While attending one of the games he met a young woman named Doris Christman. At that time, he was fighting a bout of cancer. The two fell in love and after a two-year courtship and against everyone?s advice not to marry because of the cancer they united in marriage on June 17, 1956 at Peace Lutheran Church in Plevna, MT. To this union were born Karen, Debbie, Susan and Joy. After Connie and Doris were married, they lived in Plevna, MT where Connie worked various jobs. He worked mostly road construction and then did carpentry. In 1973, Connie and Doris purchased the Geving family farm and ranch. Connie continued to live there, until the time of his death. Connie and Doris were blessed with 51 years of marriage. Connie loved woodworking, welding and metal fabrication, and playing cards with his friends, hunting, fishing and watching his grandchildren at their sporting events. In his younger years, he enjoyed team roping. Connie enjoyed telling stories to those around him. He was witty and had a great sense of humor. Within a moment?s time, he could brighten anyone?s day. Connie?s greatest love was for his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a trustee for the Peace Lutheran Church Board, served on the Plevna School Board and the Farmers Union Oil Co. Board. Connie is survived by his wife Doris; four daughters, Karen J. (Greg) Ehman, Katy, TX, Debbie K. (Alvin) Buerkle, Big Timber, MT, Susan J. McRae, Dillon MT, and Joy L. (David) Perius Gardiner, MT; His brothers William (Lois) Geving, Plevna, MT and Montie (Diane) Geving, Centralia, WA; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. His parents, William and Emma, stepmother Erna, two sisters, Francis and Evelyn and a brother James precede him in death. Arrangements are under the direction of the Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker, MT.
