Constance Birdsall

Beloved wife, mother, sister and grandma, Constance “Connie” Mangseth Birdsall died peacefully in her home on June 30, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Edna Mangseth, brother Orrin and brother-in- law, Roger Pawson. She leaves behind her devoted  husband, Rodger, of 55 years; her cherished sons, Kenneth (Allison) and Scott (Tara); her adoring grandchildren; Sara, Ashley, Mitchell, Brooke, Kate and Conor; her sister Judy, brother Kurt (Lynn) and brother Boyd (Dodie); and, many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.


Connie was born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and grew up in nearby Coleraine. She graduated from Greenway High School in 1963.  Connie met Rodger while working in her family diner, and in 1964 they moved to California and raised their family in Mountain View and Saratoga.


Connie was blessed with a deep love for God, family, friends and those in need. She loved life and always wanted to help even if it was as simple as making a meal for all to share. Connie was an active member of P.E.O., an organization that is committed to helping women pursue higher education. Connie passionately served as President of P.E.O. for 4 years.


As a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Connie served as Altar Guild Chairperson, Christmas Luncheon Chairperson and member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Connie devotedly gave her time and talents to Interfaith serving in their kitchen and food pantry.  Connie also enjoyed swimming in the masters program with the Tuolumne County Aquatics Masters and competed in the Senior Olympics.


Join us for a celebration of Connie’s life at Stevenson Funeral Home, 2067 1st Street West, Dickinson, ND 58601 on August 9th at 9:30 a.m., followed by internment at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, 1825 46th St, Mandan, ND 58554. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Connie’s honor be made to P.E.O., Chapter LH, c/o Suzanne Williamson, 19560 River Birch Ct. #18, Sonora, CA 95370.
