Funeral services for Cora Gilsdorf, 86, of Minneapolis, formerly of Dickinson, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Lisa Lewton officiating. Burial will follow at the Dickinson Cemetery in Dickinson, North Dakota.
Visitation for Cora will be 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Saturday, December 10, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Cora passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Augustana Home in Minneapolis, MN.
Cora Borgan was born June 5, 1925 in Marmarth, ND, the daughter of Andrew and Mabel (Sunden) Borgan. She grew up and attended school in Rhame moving with her family to Arizona where she graduated from high school. She went on to attend college in Phoenix and received her Medical Technician Degree. After graduation, Cora worked at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. She later moved to Miles City where she set up the medical lab for the Veterans Hospital. In 1957, Cora returned to Dickinson where she met and married Dr. Amos Gilsdorf. After Cora retired, she continued to make Dickinson her home. Cora was very interested in South Western Archeology and served on the Board of Directors of the Dickinson Dinosaur Museum. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Round Table Study Club. Cora loved to shop and travel as she was a very independent person and not afraid to venture out. As a young woman, she enjoyed acting at the community theater. In 2003, Cora moved to Minnesota to be near her son and daughter-in-law.
Cora is survived by one son, Paul (Roberta) Gilsdorf of Minneapolis, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Amos Gilsdorf; son, William Gilsdorf; and one infant daughter.
