Corey Michael Cooper

July 5, 2006 — May 15, 2024

Dickinson

What can we say about our sweet boy? There plenty we can say but here’s some of our favorites. Corey was the light of our lives, the sunshine in our darkest days. Corey brought a love into our lives that we all needed. He had an amazing smile that could brighten any room. Corey could win just about anyone over with his smile. Oh gah that golden smile, I tell you it was a million watt smile. So bright and so wide.

Oh and his humor, he could tell a joke and have you tinkling in your britches. We remember many an occasion of a spoon or spaghetti noodle becoming a telephone, “uh hello, I’m calling about your cars extended warranty”. He was a complete ham at times.

Oh and his sneaky little smirk that just told you something was coming and coming it was, “Auntie you know what time it is? It’s nerf time”. Any of us would gladly have another nerf fight again and again!

Corey had a traveler soul, you couldn’t hold him to one place for long. He’s always been on the move, just go go going! When he was 5 or 6 he set out on a mission, just a boy and his bike not a dime in his pocket. What 5 or 6 year old believes in money, let alone pay for his own chicken nuggets. Not our Corey. While we were searching for him he was just trucking away up HWY 22 towards McDonald’s. He made it to Rosie’s before someone stopped him and said, “sweetie you don’t look like you belong up here”, “nope”, he says, “I’m going to McDonald’s”. They loaded him up and brought him home, just as the police were getting there to help look for him. That boy could give you a heart attack even then.

Our Corey loved fiercely us as his family or his friends that he cherished as an extension of his family. Corey had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. We all loved Corey just as fiercely and would have walked through hell fire for him at any moment. He didn’t only mean the world to us to but also to his nearest and dearest friends.

Corey has his struggles like many do. In the end they may have won but, but though he is gone from this plain as a physical being, he is all around us. In the places we’ve been with him, in the air, just all around. Talk to him anytime you need. Even though he can’t respond with a word or a touch he’s listening and watching over all of us now.

We love you so much sweet boy so much.

Corey is survived by his loving parents James and LeeAnn Cooper, Grandparents Hattie, Gwen and LeAnn, Aunts/Uncles Mikaela (Chris) McManus, Meagan (Justin) Skipski and Haylee Lohan, and his cousins he loved so dearly Peyton, Preston and Vincent McManus, Bailee and Bentley Skipski and Esme Gray. And of course his plethora of friends so vast we cannot name them all.
