Craig Kubik

Craig James Kubik, 65, of Dickinson passed away late Friday evening, April 25th at St. Lukes Home in Dickinson. After a short battle with liver and colon cancer, Craig died with family and friends at his side. Kubik was born in 1948 to John and Annabelle Kubik of Dunn County and the Flying K Ranch. Craig graduated from Dickinson High School in 1966 and went to North Dakota State University earning both bachelors and masters degrees in animal science. Craig was an active member of Theta Chi Fraternity and served in the Army ROTC while at NDSU. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1970. In 1972 he began working with Jim Roers at the construction firm in Fargo that would eventually become the Roers family of construction, design, development, property management and real estate companies. Craig served Roers as a general contractor and ultimately as superintendent for safety and training. In 2000, Craig assisted Roers in the development of the Herdina Academy for Construction Trades in Moorhead which gives high school students the chance to explore the many careers offered in the construction industry. Craig's work can be seen in the rejuvenated Grand Forks Central High School, The Bismarck Buffalo Wild Wings, the Fargo Air National Guard, NDSU, MSUM, Concordia, and many other buildings throughout North Dakota. Kubik semi-retired and moved home to Dickinson in 2010, as Roers built up it's presence in Western North Dakota. He continued to work for Roers and work with his cousin LaDonna at Kubik Angus Ranch and HK Quarterhorse until his death. Kubik is survived by his only child Mandy Kubik, Dickinson, his mother Annabelle Kubik, Dickinson, and his sister Paula Kubik, of Billings Montana. He is also remembered by his many cousins in the Swett, Soules, Kubik and Kadrmas families and Mandy's godparents Wally and Barbara Eide of Fargo. A Memorial gathering will be held 6:00 p. m. , Wednesday, April 30,at the Dickinson Elks Lodge, Sodbuster Room. A Memorial gathering in Fargo will be held 3:00 p. m. , Thursday, May 1, at the NDSU Alumni Center with arrangements being made by Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to the NDSU Theta Chi Scholarship Fund, care of the NDSU Development Foundation, PO Box 5767, Fargo, ND 58105.
