Curt Winckler

Funeral services for Curt Winckler, 46, of Glen Ullin, ND, will be 10:30 a. m. CST, Monday, February 8, 2010, at Sacred Heart Church in Glen Ullin, ND, with Pastor Chris Walstad officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Ullin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p. m. to 6 p. m. CST, Saturday, February 6, 2010, at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Glen Ullin, ND, and will continue from 8:30 a. m. to 10:30 a. m. CST on Monday before the funeral. Curt passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at MedCenter One Hospital in Bismarck. Curtis ?Curt? Winckler was born July 14, 1963, to Albert and Norma (Lennick) Winckler in Hazen, ND. He grew up on the family farm north of Glen Ullin, where he attended and later graduated from Glen Ullin High School. His love for farming kept him on the family farm where he continued to live and work. On December 1, 1990, Curt married the love of his life, Mary Duppong in New Salem, ND. The couple continued to make their home at the farm, where they raised their two children, Casey and LaiKyn. The family moved into Glen Ullin in August of 2009 where they have made their home since. Curt enjoyed the outdoors, he could be found snowmobiling, hunting or boating. He enjoyed hanging out with neighbors and friends; he always had a smile on his face. Curt loved working on the farm with the Gerving family and hired hands. Curt was actively involved with his children?s sporting and other activities. He never missed one of their games or events. Casey and Curt enjoyed working together to restore a 1971 GMC pickup. LaiKyn and Curt worked tirelessly at playing basketball. He was her biggest fan and supporter. Curt?s greatest love was his family. They went everywhere together and enjoyed the time they did spend together. He was truly a loving husband and father. Curt touched so many lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his loving family. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Mary Winckler, son, Casey Winckler, and daughter, LaiKyn Winckler, all of Glen Ullin, ND; his father, Albert (Esther) Winckler, New Salem, ND; sister, Sharon (Jerome) Kitzmann, New Salem, ND; father-in-law, Shorty Duppong, Glen Ullin, ND; mother-in-law, Vivian Bleth, Glen Ullin, ND; sister-in-law, Carrie (Dave) Schirado, Glen Ullin, ND; niece, Lindsey Schirado, and nephews, Jason (Kristi) Kitzmann, Billings, MT, Grant (Lisa) Kitzmann, Mandan, ND, Trevor Kitzmann, special friend (Heidi), Bismarck, ND, Derrick (Kristen) Duppong, Glen Ullin, ND, and Tommy Schirado, Glen Ullin, ND; four great-nieces and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Curt was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Winckler, and sister-in-law, Melissa Duppong. A Memorial Fund has been established at The Bank of Glen Ullin in Curt?s name.
