Cynthia Haught, 69, of Dickinson passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at her home in Dickinson.

Per Cindy’s request, cremation has taken place.

Cynthia Ann Haught was born August 21, 1953 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Eugene and Darlane (Fuller) Haught. The family moved to several states before settling in Sawyer, North Dakota after her father’s retirement from the Navy. Cindy graduated from Sawyer High School, and went on to further her education at Dickinson State University. She graduated summa cum laude in 1975 with degrees in physical education, sociology, and coaching. While at Dickinson State, Cindy participated in track, basketball, and volleyball. She was later inducted into the DSU Athletic Hall of Fame for basketball. Cindy taught physical education at Dickinson High School for 31 years. Along with being a teacher, she was head coach for the girls’ basketball team for eight years, and the assistant girls’ track coach for 18 years. She retired from the Dickinson School System in 2007. 

When she wasn’t teaching, you could find her with her beloved animals, including horses, dogs, and cats. She also loved spending time at the West Dakota Veterinary Clinic. She was an avid softball player, where she was successful for many years at the state’s highest level. It was through these activities she made many of her lifelong friends.

Cindy is survived by her sister, Sandra (Gary) Nesheim of Sawyer; her favorite nephew, Brent (Ann) Nesheim of Minot; her favorite niece Barb (Michelle Hemstad) Nesheim of Minot; and great nieces and nephews, Brock & Alexis Nesheim and Bode & Benson Nesheim-Hemstad, and her dog Miss Georgia Peach.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Darlane Haught.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
