A Funeral Mass for Dale “Pat” Schaff, 59, of Belfield, will be 11:00 a. m. , Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Belfield with Father Bill Ruelle celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Visitation for Dale will be 4:00 p. m. to 6:00 p. m. , Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 6:00 p. m. Dale passed away January 23, 2014 at Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND. Dale was born on July 8, 1954, in Dickinson, son of Frank & Eloise (Henderson) Schaff. He lived in Belfield all of his life, graduated from school in 1973 and went to work on the oil rigs for many years, chasing them all over the country. In February of 1982, he married Kathleen Berger and they had two children; Patrick (Danielle) Schaff and Daisy (Josh) Herold, who have blessed them with two grandchildren, Cailey and Aiden Herold. In March of 1987, Dale went to work for Missouri Basin, running the swabbing rig “Old Blue. ” His work has led him to touch the lives of many people. Dale’s pastimes included hunting (if it was legally shootable, it was considered fair game) and fishing (oh the stories we could tell). He always took the time to stop and visit with everyone. His family, grandchildren, relatives and friends were all very special to him. Dale is survived by his wife, Kathleen; son, Patrick (Danielle) Schaff; daughter, Daisy (Josh) Herold; two grandchildren, Cailey and Aiden Herold; brothers, Frank (Paulette) Schaff of Belfield, Adam Schaff of CO, Ed Schaff of IA, Tom Schaff of Belfield; sister, Louise (Scott) Anderson of IA; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Eloise Schaff; brothers, Michael and Roy Schaff; father-in-law, Paul Berger; sisters-in-law, Teri Schaff and Beth Berger; and nephew, Dylan Berger.
