A memorial service for Darlene Grieb, 82, of Ekalaka, MT, will be 11:00 a. m. , Friday, June 20, 2014 at First Baptist Church, Ekalaka, MT, with Pastor Steve DeFord officiating. Darlene Grieb passed away in the Dahl Memorial Nursing Home June 7, 2014, where she had been a resident since December 2009. She will be remembered for her cheerful outlook on life and the generous giving of her time and talents. Darlene was born November 5, 1931, in Belfield, ND the daughter of Alf and Edith Stigen. She grew up and attended school in Fairfield, ND. In 1945, Darlene along with her parents, brother, Keith, and sisters Lyla and Gwenith moved to Port Orchard WA. She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1950. Darlene married Eddy Hoffman in 1951 and later divorced. On September 3, 1966, Carl Grieb and Darlene were united in marriage. The couple lived in Kingston, WA for many years, where Carl owned an electrical contractor business. It was during this time that Darlene obtained her real estate license and owned a fabric store. The couple moved to Ekalaka, MT in 1983. For many years, Darlene was employed by the Carter County School District as clerk. After her retirement, Darlene was briefly employed by Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka. She was a charter member of The Artists of the Prairie organization and shared her talents with many of the young people of the community. She served as a member of the Town Council for many years and was a member of the Conservation Board. Darlene is survived by her daughters, Kristi Molina, and Kandi Brewer; sons, John Hoffman, Rick Reese, and Patrick Grieb; stepchildren, Stacy, and Jan Grieb, sisters, Lyla Dean and Gwenith Schultz; and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carl; son, Bob Hoffman; and brother, Keith Stigen.
