David passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 at his home in Dickinson. David Donald Dvorak was born June 28, 1934 in Dickinson, the son of Pete and Rose (Saetz) Dvorak. He grew up and attended school through the eighth grade. David enlisted in the US Army 1953 and was honorably discharged at Fort Hood, TX in 1955. He returned to Dickinson and began farming and ranching and then married to Darlene Marie Emter on October 28, 1957. They were blessed with six children, Dean, Renee, Shelley, Dale, Nancy, and Darren. In 1995, David began to enjoy retirement. David loved to sit and put puzzles together, checking out the crops in the summer time, and going for drives to check out all the oil wells that were pumping. A few of his favorite things were farming and his Herford cattle. He enjoyed woodworking and tinkering in his shop, sitting on his deck in the sun, and having his Miller Lite pony at supper. He took great pride in building the playhouse his grandchildren played in and the replica farm house birdfeeder that was in his yard. David loved reading the Alley Oop comics in the Dickinson Press and reading to his children at bedtime. Spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the Galster’s dog, Marvin, brought him tremendous joy. David always made sure everyone was well taken care of; even when he was sick. He was always offering them beer and wine or anything they preferred. David was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and the Eagles Club. David is survived by his wife, Darlene; children, Dean (Carleen) Dvorak of Manning, Renee (James) Erickson of Dickinson, Shelley, (Jeff) Schmidt of Manning, Dale (Kris) of Manning, Nancy (Sheldon) Galster of Dickinson, and Darren Dvorak of Jamestown; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother, Edward (Margaret) Dvorak of Dickinson; sisters, Agnes (Tony) Stockert and Minnie Lefor of Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Rose; brothers, Albert, Henry and Laudie; and sisters, Mildred, Emma and Della.
