Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial for David Malkowski, 72, will be 10:00 a. m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at St. John?s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Belfield with Rev. Taras Miles celebrating. Interment will follow in St. John?s Ukrainian Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, June 28, 2004 from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Continuing Tuesday from 8:00 a. m. to 3:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel resuming at 4:00 p. m. at St. John?s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Belfield with a Parastas held at 5:00 p. m. David Malkowski passed away Friday, June 25, 2004 at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center. David was born August 29, 1931 to Mike and Mary (Hlebechuk) Malkowski in Belfield, North Dakota. He was raised and attended country school in the Fairfield area and graduated from Belfield High School in 1949. He later attended Dickinson Teachers College and began teaching in Dunn and Billings County. He was inducted into the military service, serving in the occupied forces in Japan. After being honorably discharged, David returned to Fairfield where he ranched and farmed on the Malkowski farmstead. He enjoyed wildlife, traveling and gardening. His gardens were always large in size for he loved to share the produce with his family and friends. David volunteered as an ombudsman for several years. He was a member of St. John?s Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Dickinson Eagles. Although, David was content in keeping to himself, he did cherish gathering with family and friends. David is survived by one brother, Philip (Kathryn) of Fairfield, ND, one sister, Helen Malkowski Clement of Kelso, WA and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
