Dr. Musser passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at his home in Plevna. Richard E. Musser was born on December 9, 1917, the son of Martin D. and Bertha (Erickson) Musser in Seattle, WA. He grew up and attended schools in Tacoma, graduating from the Stadium High School in Tacoma. He entered pre-med school in Tacoma and after graduating was accepted into the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. On July 17, 1943 he was married to Cara Gentry at St. Louis, MO. Dr. Musser graduated with high honors in June of 1945. In 1946 he was drafted into the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge in 1948, Dr. Musser started his practice in Waynesville, MO, later moving to Salt Lake City, UT where he served his residency in anesthesiology. He began his lifelong practice in 1957 in Ekalaka, Montana where he served the community until 1976. After retiring, they moved to Bozeman where he and Cara spent the next 10 years. Due to the persistence of the Fallon County Commissioners, Dr. Musser came out of retirement and joined the staff at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker where he practiced again until 1989. In 1996 they sold their home in Bozeman and moved to Plevna where they have lived since. Dr. Musser?s greatest enjoyment in life was practicing medicine. He also enjoyed flying. He began flying when he was 19 years old and many times over the years, transferred patients from Ekalaka to Billings. His other interests were studying history and reading. His special love was shared with his wife of 60 years, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the First Baptist Church of Plevna. Survivor include, his wife, Cara, Plevna; two children: Richard Eric (Kim) Musser Jr. of Donaphin, MO and Suzie Musser, Story, WY; five grandchildren: Joanie (Eric) Bechtle, Whitefish, MT, Steve (Stacey) Curry, Sheridan, WY, Drew Tonn, Bozeman, MT, Michele (Tim) Kats, Atlanta, GA and Robert Eldon (Kristin) Musser, North Mankato, MN and nine great-grandchildren.
