David Nemitz

Funeral Services for David Edward Nemitz, 74, of Ismay, MT be at 11:00 a. m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at American Lutheran Church in Baker, MT with Pastors Bruce & Reba Kolasch officiating. Military Rites will be provided by the Baker American Legion, Fallon Post #35. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 4th, from 1:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. David passed away peacefully at his home in Ismay on May 1, 2009. David Edward Nemitz was born on January 21, 1935, on the Nemitz family homestead in Renville County MN, a son of Ferdinand and Estella (Prodoehl) Nemitz. Dave was Baptized on April 7, 1935 and Confirmed on March 30, 1947 in the Christian Faith. Dave attended school in Danube, MN , graduating from the Danube High School in 1952. Following graduation, Dave enlisted in the United States Army in 1953. In April of 1955, he participated in the ?A? Bomb test in Nevada, and served until his Honorable discharge in October of 1955. On February 15, 1958, Dave married Loreen A. Buerkle at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Moltke Township at Gibbon, MN. To this union Don, Lee, Todd, Gene and Scott were born. Dave and Loreen resided in Renville, MN where he farmed. In 1962, Dave began a life long career in trucking, which grew into a grain merchandising business. In 1975, Dave and Loreen purchased the grain elevators in Ismay, MT. The family moved to Ismay in the summer of 1976. Dave operated the elevator until he retired in 2001. He continued to drive truck until April of 2002. Dave enjoyed visiting with friends, and has never met a stranger. Dave was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Plevna, MT, where he has served on the church council. Dave is survived by his wife of 51 years, Loreen of Ismay; five sons, Don (Jane) Nemitz of Circle Pines, MN, Lee (Nancy) Nemitz of Ismay, MT, Todd (Ria) Nemitz of Castle Rock, CO, Gene (Rita) Nemitz of Ismay and Scott (Lori) Nemitz of Bastrop, TX; a sister, Janet Kreft of Redwood Falls, MN; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one niece and 2 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Estella Nemitz. Arrangements are under the care of Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker, MT.
