David was born September 4, 1943 in Dickinson, the son of Joseph and Ida (Schwindt) Schwindt.  He grew up in Dickinson, attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Dickinson High School in 1961.  After graduation, David enlisted in the National Guard and began working for the ND Department of Transportation where he worked on various projects along I-94, and other state and federal highways.  It was during this time that he met Vivian Klym.  David and Vivian were married on September 29, 1964 and were blessed with three children, Cora, Dale and Rhonda.  In 1974, David began working for KLJ in Dickinson and became a registered land surveyor.  In recent years, David worked as a project inspector for various jobs that included the Minot International Airport, Highway 2 and several BIA projects on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation including the Four Bears Bridge Project.

David was very passionate about baseball and softball and followed local teams faithfully.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors golfing, hunting and fishing.  In his early adult life, he could often be found bowling and playing pool.  David was a member of the North Dakota Society of Professional Land Surveyors and the Eagles Club.  He was a very easy going man and the simple things in life brought him tremendous joy.

David is survived by Vivian Schwindt of Dickinson; his children, Cora (Tim) Seiler of Dickinson, Dale (Sherry Kulish) Schwindt of Mandan, and Rhonda (Gabriel) Cavazos of Corpus Christi, TX; grandchildren, Nathan (Jocelyn) Seiler, Eric (Kenzie) Seiler, and Jacob Cavazos; one soon to be great-grandchild; brother, Ralph Schwindt of Florida; and sisters, Dorothy (Jim) Wilson of Dickinson, Viola Heinle of Dickinson, Margaret (Crow) Law of Florida; and Alice (Ralph) Schulz of Dickinson.
