Saturday, September 22, 2007 and continue on Sunday, 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker with a Prayer Service at 4:00 p. m. Dave passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at his ranch northwest of Plevna due to a 4-wheeler accident at the ranch. Dave was born on September 16, 1961, the son of Reinhold and Violet (Strobel) Straub in Miles City. He grew up northwest of Plevna where he attended the Dry Fork Country School through the 6th grade. He attended school in Plevna where he graduated from High School in 1979. Dave continued to work on the family ranch with his father, Reiny and his special uncle, Art. David was married to Joyce Ferrel on November 18, 1994 in Baker. To this union, three children were brought together, Jasi, Levi and Brittany. Together they lived and ranched northwest of Plevna. Dave trained and used many ranch horses and always enjoyed working with them. He also took great pride in their herd of Red Angus cattle. Dave enjoyed playing intramural basketball, softball, snowmobiling and bowling. He also refereed for many events throughout the area. Dave followed NASCAR and especially enjoyed watching Jeff Gordon in the 24 car. He always delighted when his driver would beat his wife?s driver. In 1995, Dave was diagnosed with MS. He took this disease on with a smile and as it took its toll on Dave, he never gave up his easy smile. His smile will always be something everyone will remember and cherish. Dave was a teacher in his own way, whether it be how to run the baler or look for a sick cow. Whoever was at his side, he was glad to teach you how to do the task. His love for ranching was as strong as his love for his family. That is all he ever wanted to do and he did it well. Dave was doing what he loved the day of the accident. Due to his MS, Dave?s 4-wheeler was his left hand for completing daily ranch chores and tasks. Dave and Joyce were always so appreciative of all the family and friends that helped them with the ranch, especially both of their parents, and the young men who worked for them. Those who shared his life and love were, his wife, Joyce, Plevna, MT; two daughters, Jasi Johnson, Baker, MT, Brittany Straub, Missoula, MT; a son, Levi Johnson, Baker, MT; his parents, Reinhold and Violet, Plevna, MT; two sisters, Angie (DeLynn) Meidinger, Fallon, MT and Cindy ?Putts? (Wm. ) Coutts, Bismarck, ND; mother and father-in-law, Sharon and Roy Ferrel, Baker, MT; sisters-in-law, Bev Bader (special friend, Derrick DeHaan), Baker and Natalie (Pat) Zink, Lewiston, ID; nephews and nieces, Cody Meidinger (fianc?e Kathy Neary), Lorianne (Chris) Klobofski, Alex Coutts, Shayna & Shawnee Zink and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred & Magdalena Straub and Ludwig and Emma Strobel. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevenson Funeral home of Baker, MT
