A funeral service for David Witte, 51, of Regent, will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church, New England with Pastor Colin Neuharth officiating. Burial will take place in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Regent.
Visitation for Dave will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with a prayer service taking place at 7:00 p.m.
Dave passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.
David was born November 9, 1967 in Dickinson, the son of Gary and Carol (Thoreson) Witte. He grew up on the family farm near Regent, attended Regent High School; graduating with the class of 1986. After graduation, Dave attended Dickinson State University for two year. It was during this time that he met Lenore Baar. The two were united in marriage on September 30, 1989 in Dickinson. Dave and Lenore resided on the original Witte homestead. Together, they farmed and raised their two sons, Devin and Dylan while Dave drove truck.
Dave enjoyed spending time gardening, playing pinochle, shopping on BisMan, and collecting trucks and trailers. He was active in the community, serving as treasurer on the church board, treasurer of the Regent Fire Department, while serving on the Alliance Ag now DFC Board, Hettinger County Farmers Union Board, and Rifle Township Board.
Dave is survived by his wife, Lenore; sons, Devin Witte of New England, and Dylan Witte of Regent; parents, Gary and Carol Witte; brother, Jeremy (Melissa) Witte of Dickinson; nephews Jacob and Caleb Witte; and Lenore’s entire Baar family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
