Dean Nester

Funeral Services for Dean Nester, 78, of Dickinson, ND will be 9:00 a.m., Monday, June 5, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church, Dickinson, ND with Pastor Lisa Lewton and Pastor Joe Natwick officiating. Military Rites will be presented by the American Legion Post #3 Honor Guard.  Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. CST, Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND.


Visitation for Dean will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson.


Dean passed away Monday, May 29, 2017, at his home in Dickinson.


Dean was born July 11, 1938, in Regent, ND, the son of Orin and Edna (Hoffer) Nester. He grew up and attended school in Regent and high school in Dickinson, graduating from DHS in 1956. Dean attended UND for one year and then was drafted into the Army. After returning from the Army, he came back to Dickinson and met Gayle in 1966. They were married on June 12, 1971, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Scranton. To this union two children were born; Darin and Michelle. Together Dean and Gayle raised their family in Dickinson. Dean enjoyed bowling, working on his model planes and trains, golfing, working in the yard, and spending time with his family. Dean worked as a Walmart associate from 1990 to 2015.


Dean is survived by his wife, Gayle; mother, Edna Nester; son, Darin (Richelle) of Fargo; daughter, Michelle Frost of Dickinson; grandchildren, Ryann Alexis Steiner, Jackson Gregory Dean Steiner, Scott Dean Nester, Brooke Michelle Binek, Nicholas Dean Frost, and Owen James Sivertson.


Dean is preceded in death by his father, Orin Nester.
