Dean Williams

A funeral service for Dean Williams, 64, of Dickinson, will be 11:00 a. m. Monday, September 9, 2013 at Evangelical Bible Church in Dickinson with Pastor Tim Privratsky officiating.


Visitation for Dean will be 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. Sunday, September 8th at Stevenson Funeral Home with reminiscing and sharing memories at 7:00 p. m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Cremation will take place after the service.


Dean passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, September 4, 2013.


Dean and his twin brother Dennis were born to Charles Richard and Lenore Williams of Sturgis, MI on October 14, 1948. The twins grew up in Sturgis, MI and graduated from Sturgis High School in 1966 and Alma College, Alma, MI in 1970. Dean and Connie (Childs) had their first date on June 3, 1967 and were married 5 years later on June 3, 1972. Dean received an assistantship for his masters from NDSU and they moved to Fargo. After attending NDSU, Dean and Connie moved to Dickinson in 1974. Dean worked for NDSU-Dickinson Experiment Station and received his masters of Science degree in botany from NDSU. He also worked as a Correctional Officer for the SWMCC and was currently working at the U. S. Forest Service as a Rangeland Management Specialist. He was a member of the Theodore Roosevelt Amateur Radio Club and a member of the Evangelical Bible Church. He enjoyed spending time in the badlands and collecting guns and knives. He was fun loving, enjoyed telling stories of his younger days including his motorcycle travels to Sturgis, SD, and was an avid Vikings football fan.


Dean is survived by his wife, Connie, of 41 years, their cat Boody, his twin brother Dennis Lee (Jane) of Topeka, KS, a niece Julie (Ryan) Thompson, of Coffeyville, KS, and a nephew Matt (Sarah) Williams, of Hoyt, KS, two great nieces and two great nephews, godchild Erin Nyren Erickson of Christine, ND, a sister-in-law, Judy (Karl) Porth of Paw Paw, MI, and brother-in-law Roger (Jean) Childs of Moncks Corner, SC.


He was predeceased in death by his parents.


In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Evangelical Bible Church-Arise and Build Project.
