Della Gilbert, 90, Killdeer, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Funeral services will be 2:00 p. m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at St. John?s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Killdeer, with Rev. Aanen Gjovik officiating. Interment will be in Killdeer Cemetery, Killdeer. Visitation will be Tuesday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home from 11 a. m. to 12 noon and at the church one hour prior to the service. Della Gilbert was born February 12, 1913, to Anton and Fanny (Bray) Trinka in Dickinson. She attended country school southeast of Killdeer. She worked for a family on a farm near her home for three years. In 1933, she moved to Montana and started her career of restaurant work. She worked at Fort Peck while the dam was being built. In 1936, she moved to Seattle, continuing her work in restaurants. She married Lowell Gilbert on April 27, 1944, in Renton, Washington. They resided in Washington until 1946. They moved to Killdeer and owned a restaurant in the Killdeer Hotel. Later they farmed south of Dunn Center until 1953, when they returned to Killdeer to open ?The Coffee Shop. ? In 1957, they opened the Manning Grocery Store. They returned to Killdeer and ran ?The Coffee Shop? until retirement in the mid 1980?s. She loved working, flowers, gardening and baking. She was a member of St. John?s Lutheran, Killdeer. Della is survived by: two daughters, Gerri (Pat) Dinkins, Bison, S. D. and Mary (Richard) Nester, Minot; six grandchildren, Patrick Dinkins, Beth (Allen) Kollman, Paul Dinkins, Paula (Mark) Van Dinter, Jaci (Tim) Mattingley, Noel (David) Snyder; ten great grandchildren and one brother, Ted (Beverly) Trinka, Minot. She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; and one brother.
