Funeral services for Delmer Scheck, 72, New Salem, ND will be at 1 p. m. , Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Evangelical Congregational Church in Glen Ullin, ND with Reverend Bill Bradley officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p. m. to 8 p. m. , Monday, April 20, 2009 at Spangelo- Stevenson Funeral Home, Glen Ullin, NDDelmer passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck, ND. Delmer Marvin Scheck was born February 8, 1937 in New Salem, ND to Peter and Lydia (Redmann) Scheck. He grew up in the Blue Grass area and attended country school. He was baptized on May 9, 1937 in St. Mark?s Church in Bluegrass. Delmer accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of 15. He was a member of the Evangelical Congregational Church. After school, Delmer stayed at the family farm and worked with his dad. He continued to work on the family farm until shortly after his father?s passing. He moved to Bismarck with his mother and brother for a year until his brother?s death. Delmer than moved to Glen Ullin and later to New Salem, ND. During these years, Delmer continued farming until 1981. In 1983, he started as a rural mail carrier in the New Salem area. In 1990, he became a full time carrier until his retirement in 1999. Delmer was an avid golfer and was a charter member of the Center and Glen Ullin Golf Course, as well as a member of the New Salem Golf Course. He was a member of Rocky?s Happy Valley Gang, as a guitarist for many years. Delmer was an avid sports fan, many times watching a game on TV and listening to another on the radio. He had a special love for his dogs. Delmer is survived by his brother, Edward Scheck, Bismarck, ND; sister; Susan Heinle, Elgin, ND; nephew; Clyde (Gayla) Heinle, Flasher, ND, nieces; Janice (Kenneth) Wetzel, New Salem, ND, Carol (Harold) Gomke, Bismarck, ND, Linda (LeRoy) Preisinger, Minot, ND, Joan Wallace, Fairfield, CA; five great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both parents; brothers, Albert and an infant brother; Sister, Louise Dewald; sister-in-law, Margaret Scheck.
