Funeral Services for Deme G. Poulos, 83, of Baker, MT will be held at 10:00 a. m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker with Father Constantine Sinos officiating. Interment will follow in the Bonnievale Cemetery at Baker with Military Rites being provided by the Baker American Legion, Fallon Post #35. Visitation will be 2:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. on Monday, August 3rd, at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Trisagion Service at 7:00 p. m. Deme passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker, MT. Deme George Poulos was born on February 16, 1926, at Tonquin, in rural Fallon County, MT a son of George and Tena (Goutas) Poulos. At a young age, Deme moved with his family to Westmore where he grew up and attended school. At the age of 16, Deme went to work for the Milwaukee Railroad, until he joined the United States Army his junior year of high school. Deme served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Deme joined his family in Baker, where he returned to work with the railroad. He spent his entire career in Baker with the exception of a short time when he was stationed at Morristown, SD, where he was the Section Foreman. Deme experienced a lot of change while working on the rail, from the steam locomotives to the diesel powered electric locomotives, as well as the accusation of the Milwaukee by Burlington Northern. After 47 years, Deme said fare well to the railroad, but it was still forever in his heart. Following his retirement, Deme kept busy in his machine shop doing mechanic work and enjoying the company and friendship of his many friends. Deme was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. Left to morn his passing are his sister, Ann Olson of Baker, MT and his brother, Pete (Grace) Poulos of Roseville, CA; three nephews, Gary Olson of Baker, MT, Aaron Olson of Lompoc, CA and Deme Poulos of Garden Valley, CA; a niece, Dorothy (Mark) Hartezell of Sacramento, CA and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Deme is preceded in death by his parents, George and Tena, and his brother-in-law, Orville Olson.
