A Funeral service for Denis Pavlicek, 60, of Dickinson, will be 11:00 a. m. , Friday, May 31, 2013 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Dickinson with Pastor Brian Davidson officiating.


Due to family wishes, cremation has taken place.


Denis passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson.


Denis was born May 9, 1953 in Dickinson, the son of Ernest and Emma (Rambousek) Pavlicek. He was raised on the family farm near New Hradec until the age of 9, when the family moved to Dickinson where he completed his education. He also attended Dickinson State University. At an early age Denis discovered his love of music. With his bass guitar, he entertained at many local functions, playing with the bands, Good Time Living and Country Cactus. While in high school, Denis learned the art of flooring installation from his brother, Dave. He started his own flooring installation business, Karpet Installation Service, at the age of 21. He also enjoyed and took pride in his hours spent at U-Wash Car Wash. Denis made many friends over the years through his business. He was an avid NASCAR fan and was knowledgeable on local and world current events. Denis married Pam Pletan on May 22, 1981 in Dickinson. Denis’s proudest moments were becoming Dad to daughter, Kelcee and grandpa to Elijah and Ahriana. Grandpa Denis taught his grandchildren patience and love of family. While battling cancer, he began teaching Elijah how to play guitar.


Denis is survived by his wife, Pam; daughter, Kelcee Pavlicek of Dickinson; grandchildren, Elijah and Ahriana; sister, Irene (Dale) Schwindt of Mandan; mother-in-law, Pat Pletan of Dickinson; sisters-in-law, Grace Pavlicek of West Seneca, NY, Diane Cue of Dickinson, Julie (Gary) Newton of Belfield; brother-in-law, Mike Pletan of Dickinson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Emma Pavlicek; brothers, David and Richard Pavlicek; two infant brothers; father-in-law, Orion Pletan; and sister-in-law, Diane Pletan.
