Graveside service for DeWayne Skjefte, 82, of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Dunn Center, ND, will be 1:00 p. m. Monday, June 28, 2010, at the Dunn Center Cemetery with Pastor Joel Sauerwein officiating. Military rites will be presented by the Killdeer Legion, Ezra Barrows Post #46. Visitation will take place from 1:00 p. m. to 5:00 p. m. Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Stevenson Funeral Home, Killdeer, ND. DeWayne passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Mountain View Care Center in Colorado Springs. DeWayne M. Skjefte was born December 24, 1927, to Gerhard and Marie (Lyseng) Skjefte on their family farm south of Dunn Center, ND. He was baptized at Vang Lutheran Church and confirmed at Normanna Lutheran Church in Dunn Center. He attended public school in Dunn Center. DeWayne joined the U. S. Army in March 1950, where he served in Japan for four years. He reenlisted for another four years, which he served in Germany. He was discharged in May 1958. He worked as a mechanic and machinist during his lifetime. DeWayne met his wife, Lucie Schreiber, in Germany, and to their union, three children were born: Hardy, Ingo, and Lisa Marie, who all reside in Minneapolis. He has six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. DeWayne is survived by his children, Hardy, Ingo and Lisa Marie, all of Minneapolis, MN; and a sister, Idella Johnson, Tucson, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Vera Dorgan, Murle Griffin, and Eunice Bossert; one brother, Arley, who was killed during World War II; and his second wife, Marion.
