Funeral Services for Diane Joyce Hockenbary, 59, St. Francis, Kansas, formerly of Ekalaka, MT, will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka, MT, with Tom Stieg officiating.  Burial will take place at Beaver Lodge Cemetery in Ekalaka.

Visitation for Diane will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka.

Diane passed away on June 8, 2019 in Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas, after a brief battle with cancer.

Diane Joyce (Erickson) Hockenbary was born September 3rd, 1959 in Ekalaka, MT to Marvin and Laura (Stieg) Erickson. Diane was raised in Ekalaka and graduated from Carter County High School in 1977.

In 1980, she welcomed the birth of her first son, Derek.  In 1982, Diane married Terry Hockenbary, who blessed Diane with his four children.  In 1985 they would welcome another son, Chad.  Though Terry and Diane later divorced, the family remained close.

Diane worked at the post office and various jobs in Ekalaka while raising her family.  She later started a career as a “landman” which took her to Holyoke, CO and later to St. Francis, Kansas where she remained until the time of her passing.

Diane enjoyed collecting antiques and spending time with her family.  She spent a lot of time outdoors gardening and tending to her flower beds until her health would not allow her to anymore.

She is survived by her mother, Laura (Ekalaka), brother Robert and wife Connie (Estes Park, CO), brother Arnold and wife Dixie (Gillette,WY), sister Rhonda and husband Paul Leinen (Poplar, MT) and sister Laurel and husband Kenneth Gann (Sturgis, SD), son Derek and wife Alicia (Powers Lake, ND), son Chad and wife Lindy (Bozeman, MT), stepdaughter Tara and husband Jim Kinsley (Yankton, SD), stepson Kevin and wife Julie (Belle Fourche, SD), stepson Kelly and wife Cadie (Gouverneur, NY) and grandchildren, Dominic, Ryan, Ashani, Charlee, Kahl, Waylon, Alex, Kyle, Zechariah, Nicholas, Carissa, Elizabeth, Susanna, Christopher, Ayseluna, Killian, Bryn, and Rhydian and great grandchildren Graham, Wyatt, and Eliot and numerous nieces and nephews.

Diane is proceeded in death by her father, Marvin, sister Christina, stepson Scott and stepdaughter-in-law Heather, niece Ivy, and nephew David.
