A funeral Mass for Doloris Schmidt, 93, of Dickinson, will be 9:30 a.m., Friday, August 23, 2019 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Monsignor Thomas Richter celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Visitation for Doloris will be from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a rosary and vigil service being held at 6:00 p.m.
Doloris passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 at St. Benedict’s Health in Dickinson.
Doloris was born March 2, 1926 in Stark County ND, the daughter of John J. and Margaret (Emineth) Meyer. As a young girl, she attended St. Joseph’s School. She helped on the family dairy farm and worked with horses until moving to Minneapolis to work with Honeywell. On February 4, 1952, Doloris married Albert J. Schmidt in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Dickinson. In 1960 they purchased the family farm northwest of Dickinson and it was there that they made their home and raised their children; Doug, Allan, Gerald and Cynthia. The farm consisted of dairy cattle, small grains and making hay. Doloris was a devoted farmwife and homemaker all while working at JC Penney’s and Tempo for over 20 years. She enjoyed traveling with Albert up until he passed away in 2007. Doloris enjoyed, playing cards, gardening, taking pictures and cooking and baking for her family and friends. She will be missed by her entire family.
Doloris is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Al) Heidt of Glendive, MT; son, Doug (Kathleen) Schmidt of Dickinson; grandchildren, Adam, Derek, Dustin (Kristy), Devin (Amanda), Christopher (Jodee); five great-grandchildren; and brother, Richard Meyer of Dickinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John J and Margaret Meyer; husband, Albert J. Schmidt; son, Allan Schmidt; Gerald Schmidt; siblings, Brothers; Fred John, Ben, Paul, Ray; and sisters; Sr. Johnita Meyer OSB, Barbara Boehm, Eleanor Frederick, Arlene Amann, Lucille Hennan, Rose St. Peter; and great-granddaughter, Arlene Schmidt.
