Funeral Service for Erwin Don Knapp, 63 of Camp Crook, SD will be 11:00 a. m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Camp Crook Community Center in Camp Crook with Pastor Tim Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery at Camp Crook. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. on Friday, March 11th, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka, MT. Don passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House in Rapid City, SD after a battle with cancer. Erwin Don Knapp was born on May 11, 1947, a son of Charles M. ?Bill? and Marie (Brown) Knapp at Orofino ID. Don moved with his family to Lebanon OR in 1949, and later to Hulett, WY in Oct of 1952. Don attended the Hulett grade school until 1958 when the family moved to Camp Crook SD. He finished grade school at Camp Crook. At age 15, he started working in the sawmill with his Dad and brother, Billie. He was driving a logging truck at the young age of 15. When Don started 5th grade in Camp Crook, he met his sweetheart, Sharon Ann Bagley. They were married on June 13th, 1965, in Camp Crook. Three lovely children joined this union: Tim, Denise, and Shelly. He continued working at the sawmill until 1976, when Don and Sharon purchased the sawmill. Don ran saw mills in Ekalaka, Sundance, and Hulett. He was very active in getting the Camp Crook Area Community Center started. His family meant the world to him. There wasn’t anything that he couldn’t build. If he seen it he would go and build it. Don is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharon of Camp Crook SD; one son, Tim Knapp of Belle Fourche SD; two daughters, Denise Knapp, of Camp Crook SD and Shelly (John) Pelletier of Spearfish SD; one grandson, Marcus Pelletier; three granddaughters, Cheyenne (Jonathan) Wheeler, Ellsworth AFB, SD, Jordan (Ryell) Reynolds and Tylyn Knapp both of Ekalaka MT; two great granddaughters, Addison and Shanae Wheeler; one great grandson, Tristan Reynolds; his mother Marie, 99 years old of Serenity Corners, Spearfish, SD; his sisters, Shirley (Lewis) Wood, Hulett WY, Janice Bush, Sundance WY and Linda (Bradley) Abelseth, Nisland SD; one brother, Jerry (Marilyn) Knapp, Hulett WY; his mother-in-law, Clara Mae Bagley and is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and aunts. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill, his brothers, Billie, Dutch, and Silas, two brother-in-laws, Louis Bagley and Mike Bush, and two sister-in-laws, Mareletta and Mavis and his father-in-law, Glen Bagley.
