Duke passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, Irving, TX.
Donald was born June 1, 1948 in Dickinson to Frank and Monica (Sticka) Dukart. He attended school in Sheffield and then later attended New England High School. After high school, Don took over his parents’ farm and started Duke’s Construction. He married Linda Brinster on March 21, 1980 in Rapid City, SD. Don continued farming and his construction business until 1983 when he moved to Houston, TX and started his career as a project superintendent. During his time in Houston, he helped construct all of the large medical facilities and Muse Air Terminal for Hobby Airport. In 1991, he relocated to Dallas and built out Roger Staubach’s (Dallas Cowboys quarterback) Office Suite at the Ross Tower for the Dallas Cowboys and the Ross Perot Suite at the Texas Motor Speedway.
Don enjoyed cars; attending the NASCAR races and car shows. His favorite NASCAR driver was Dale Earnhardt Sr. (# 3) and Dale Jr. (# 88). He always wanted a cherry red ’65 Mustang and a Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Don also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, spending time in his yard especially digging in the dirt, barbequing brisket and ribs, and just relaxing. His favorite singer was Johnny Cash and favorite movie was “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. His favorite color was blue and although he grew up farming he couldn’t ride a horse to save his soul.
Don is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Ashley Dukart; adopted daughter, Dawn Cromwell; three grandchildren; brothers, Albert Dukart, Clarence Dukart, and Dennis Dukart; sisters, Lavern (Boniface) Frank and Vera (Leonard) Kadrmas; and mother-in-law, Dorothy Brinster.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Monica Dukart; sister, Vivian (Raymond) Froelich; brother-in-law, Boniface Frank; and father-in-law, Raphael Brinster.
