Donald Dvorak

A funeral Mass for Donald Dvorak, 70, of Dickinson will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Keith Streifel celebrating. Burial will take place at a later date.


Visitation for Don will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 11 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a rosary and vigil service taking place at 7:00 p.m.


Don passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at CHI St. Alexius Health – Dickinson.


Don Dorman Dvorak was born on May 5, 1947 in Dickinson, the son of Charles and Dorothy (Ridl) Dvorak. Growing up, he went to Versippi country school, Dickinson Elementary and Gladstone Elementary. He attended High School at Campus High and Gladstone High School, graduating in 1965. Don married Joyce Freer on August 27, 1966 in Hirshville St. Phillips Catholic Church. They were blessed with son, Jeff and daughter, Carol. Don continued his education at Dickinson State University and graduated from North Dakota State University in Ag Econ. While attending college, Don worked as a postal worker for USPS. He also worked at US Geological survey for a short time. Following college, he worked with USDA/FSA until he started his own business in 1984. Farm Financial Services was a Real Estate Appraisal and Farm Consulting business, where he served Southwest North Dakota until his retirement in June 2015. He also worked as a crop/hail adjuster for Farmers Mutual Insurance in the summers for 15 years along with owning his own business. Don was a quiet, caring, intelligent man who served many farmers with a concerning heart for family farms. Joyce worked alongside Don in their business. While growing up on the family farm, a great love for farming was instilled in Don. He purchased the family farm in 1975 and was proud to have lived there most of his life. Farming was Don’s true passion and love. He loved watching sports, especially his grandson’s games and he enjoyed playing pinochle and any games with his family. He will be dearly missed.


Don is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Jeff (Tammie) Dvorak of Gladstone; daughter, Carol (Chad) Brusseau of Dickinson; grandkids, Grant Dvorak (fiancé –Karli Rothschiller), Grace Dvorak, Amanda Brusseau and Tyler Brusseau; brothers, C. Charles Dvorak of Haxtun, CO, and Dennis Dvorak of Cottage Grove, MN.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Dvorak.
