Donald Elmer

Private family services for Donald J. Elmer, 77, of Hebron, will be held at a later date.

Don passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Marian Manor in Glen Ullin.

Donald was born May 1, 1940 in Hebron, ND, the son of Jacob and Wanda (Woroniecki) Elmer.  After completing his education, Don managed several elevators in North Dakota and Montana.  On May 2, 1960, Don and Ira Boehler were united in marriage.  To this union, four children were born: Lance, Miles, Connie, and Julie.  Don owned several businesses before going to work as an over the road truck driver; a job which he found most rewarding.

In his younger years, Don enjoyed participating in rodeos. He loved to play golf and heading down town to visit with the local residents over a cup of coffee.  Don could make everyone smile that he came in contact with on a daily basis.  He always had something to say and was known to pull a prank or two.  Don was very proud of all his family, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and spending time with them brought him great joy.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Wanda Elmer; son, Miles Elmer; daughter, Julie Duffy; and sister, Ruth Ann Kungel.  He is survived by his wife, Ira; son, Lance Elmer; daughter, Connie (Dan) Dwyer; three grandchildren, Preston (Sevil) Elmer, Taylor (Candice Peralta) Sease, and Britney Duffy; two great-grandchildren, Sophia Elmer and Avery Sease; and siblings, Dolly Fitterer, Larry (Kathy) Elmer, Dickie (Jeanette) Elmer, Jack (Lori) Elmer, Barb (Bruce) Schatz, Deb Dimond, and Jeff Elmer.
