Donald R. Ganzer, 77, Dickinson, died suddenly Sunday, April 24, 2005, at his home of natural causes. Funeral services are 10 a. m. , Thursday, April 28, 2005, at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson with Deacon Ralph Stockert officiating. Interment will be in Dickinson Cemetery, Dickinson, with military rites provided by Dickinson Veterans Drill Team. Visitation will be 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. , Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Price-Murphy Funeral Home. The family will greet relatives and friends at 7 p. m. Visitation will continue Thursday one hour prior to the service. Donald R. Ganzer was born August 16, 1927, in Dickinson to John and Rose (Wannemacher) Ganzer. He graduated from Dickinson High School in 1945 and attended Dickinson State Teacher?s College. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served in WWII from June, 1945 ? August, 1946. He married Betty Wayer on January 24, 1951. Don made Dickinson, ND his residence where he owned and operated a radio repair business. He retired in 1990 and he and his wife spent the winter months in Mesa, Arizona. He remained active in his retirement, exercising daily, taking up many hobbies, and volunteering his time to the communities in Mesa and Dickinson. His was a lifetime member of Dickinson Elks Lodge. He was especially fond of silversmithing, making a variety of jewelry, target shooting and gardening. He is survived by: his wife, Betty, Dickinson, ND; one son, Dean (Stacy) Ganzer, San Diego, CA; one sister, Muriel (Frank) Lewis, Dickinson, ND; one brother, Harold (Jean) Ganzer, Dickinson, ND, and one sister-in-law, Lena Ganzer, Dickinson, ND. He was preceded in death by: his parents; one sister, Dorthy Thomas and one brother, John Ganzer. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to: St. Benedict?s Health Center, 851 4th Ave. E. , Dickinson, ND 58601, where Don was an active volunteer for several years.
