A graveside service for Donald E. Urbanec will be 11:00 a. m. , Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Dickinson, North Dakota. Donald passed away at the age of 69 in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Veterans Administration Medical Center on Saturday, October 4, 2014, due to complications from emphysema. Don was born on February 26, 1945, the son of Edward and Anna (Kostelecky) Urbanec in Dickinson, North Dakota. He attended St. Wenceslaus grade school and graduated from Dickinson High School. Don entered the United States Army on November 8, 1965, and served proudly in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on October 31, 1967. Don worked in oil field exploration in North Dakota. He was disabled in 1981 due to Agent Orange disease from his time served in Vietnam. Don was a lifetime member in the Albert Johnson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1223 at Moorhead, Minnesota, and was a past commander of the Melvin E. Hearl American Legion Post 21 at Moorhead. Don will be remembered for his kind, gentle heart and friendly disposition. He made friends easily. Don enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and loved watching sports, from high school to professional. Don is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He had a Catholic Mass of Christian Burial in Chanhassen, Minnesota, on October 10, 2014.
