Funeral Services for Donelda Oberlander, 86, of New England, North Dakota, will be 11:00 a. m. , Monday, October 25, 2010 at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church, New England. Burial will follow at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Cemetery, New England, North Dakota. Visitation will be Sunday, October 24, 2010 from 2:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, 45 4th Ave West with a prayer service taking place at 5:00 p. m. Donalda passed away, Friday, October 22, 2010 at Medcenter One in Bismarck, North Dakota. Donelda Jeane Wieland was born May 2, 1924 in rural Regent, the daughter of John and Anna (Koeller) Wieland. She was raised on the family farm and attended school in rural Regent. On November 15, 1940, Donelda married Bennie Oberlander. They spent the early years of their marriage raising their five children and farming in the Reeder community. In 1972, Donelda and Bennie moved to New England. Donelda was a great poet and was recognized for this by receiving the North Dakota Poetry Mother of the Year. She was a great singer, singing at weddings and funerals. Donelda was active in Sunday school, the Women?s Circle at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and was dedicated to the Prison Ministry in New England. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, playing pinochle and traveling with Bennie on countless vacations where they made friends all over the country. These friends would in turn visit them in New England. Donelda?s table was always full of family and friends visiting over a meal or a cup coffee. She was a wonderful parent and grandparent. Donelda is survived by three sons, Dean (Lena), Gillette, WY, Don (Rosemary), Britton, SD, and Jack (Pam) Oberlander, West Fargo; two daughters, Janine Haug, Bismarck and LaNell (Les) Honeyman, Midland, TX; one sister, Leota Lien, 16 Grandchildren and many Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren . She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bennie; two brothers, Ernest Wieland and Ed Wieland; three sisters, Dorothymae Strand, Frances Thomson and Caroline Ehleringer; and one granddaughter, Melanie Honeyman.
