Funeral Mass for Donna Belle Splichal, 70, of South Heart will be 10:30 a. m. Saturday, March 19, 2005 at St Mary?s Catholic Church in South Heart with Father Shannon Lucht, celebrating. Interment will follow in South Heart?s St. Mary?s Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, March 18, 2005 from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Dickinson. Donna passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson with all ten of her children at her side. Donna was born July 30, 1934 in Dickinson, the daughter of Adam and Catherine (Hubert) Gartner. She grew up in New England where she attended and graduated from St. Mary?s High School. On October 18, 1955 she was married to Louis F. Splichal in New England. They moved to South Heart where they built a home and raised their family. Donna worked nearly 40 years with the South Heart School. Along with being the secretary there, she wore many other hats at the school. She was an adopted mother and grandmother to many students over the years and looked after the children as if they were her own. All ten of her children graduated from South Heart High School. Louis passed away in 1982 and Donna continued to make South Heart her home. She taught CCD and was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting and sharing stories about her children. Family, Church and School were the most important things in life to Donna. Her children thought of her as their own angel on earth. Now she will watch over them from above. Survivors include four sons: Tom (Chris) Splichal of Gillette, WY, Jim (Mary) Splichal of Gillette, WY, Jon Splichal (special friend Laurie Sorenson) of Gillette, WY and Joe (Hilarie) Splichal of Denver, CO; six daughters: Gerri Marchus (Ben Makay) of New Rockford, ND, Shirley (Doug) Omvig of Billings, MT, JoLynn (Randy) Reisenauer of Cathay, ND, Jennifer (Jerome) Hagemeister of Fessenden, ND, Susie (Wade) Williams of Cathay, ND and Katie (Aubrey) Wardlaw of Clemmons, NC; a sister, Bette Ann Berger of Albany, OR; a brother, Leonard Gartner of New England, ND; 22 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis, and a sister, Clara Bosch.
