Funeral Service for Doris Davis, 85 of Lincoln, NE formerly of Killdeer, ND will be 11:00 a. m. Friday, October 14, 2005 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church near Grassy Butte with Pastor Bruce Bowen officiating. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery north of Killdeer. Visitation will be 12:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. Thursday, October 13, 2005 with a prayer service held at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Killdeer. Doris passed away Monday, October 10, 2005 at Ambassador Nursing Home, Lincoln, NE. Doris was born March 18, 1920, the daughter of William and Marie (Marty) Stein. She grew up and attended schools in the Killdeer area, graduating from high school there. She then attended Dickinson Teachers College, received her teaching certificate and began teaching grade school in the area. Doris married her high school sweetheart, Marion in 1943 at Killdeer. Together, they returned to the Davis family farm north of Killdeer where they farmed and ranched while raising their family. Since she was a young girl, Doris was a devoted stamp collector. She also enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Throughout the years, Doris enjoyed the outdoors and gardening. After Doris and Marion retired, they made their home in Lincoln, NE to be closer to their family. Doris? special love was always for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doris is survived by: a son, Donald, and a daughter, Doris (Jim) Wagner, both of Lincoln, NE; two brothers, Bill (Betty) Stein, Minneapolis, MN; Gordon (Erma) Stein, Alexandra, MN; two sisters, Marge (Virgil) Rainwater, Winters, CA; Bev (Ray) Kostelecky, Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren, LeAnn (Dirk) Smutzler, Jackie (Joel) Donner, Sherrie (Chris) Wagner, Dan (Megan) Wagner; and 8+ great-grandchildren. She was preceded by: her parents, husband, a son, David, and a brother, LeRoy ?Bud? Stein.
