Funeral Services for Doris E. Skidmore-Hastig, 69, of Baker, MT will be at 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007 in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker, MT with Branch President Doug Rowe conducting. Interment will follow in the family lot in Bonnievale Cemetery at Baker. Visitation will be 1:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. Monday, July 23, 2007 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Doris Elin Linden was born on September 7, 1937, a daughter of Carl Oskar Arthur and Lena (Dragseth) Linden in Baker, MT. Doris grew up on the family farm west of Willard, MT. She attended Red Hill Country School at Willard, and public schools in Baker, graduating with the class of 1955. While attending high school, Doris worked as a waitress full time until she married. Doris met and married Gene Skidmore on June 5, 1955 in Baker, MT. To this union, Barbara, Alice, Gail, Gene and Marlon were born. After their marriage, Doris worked as a full time mom at home where she raised her family. Doris and Gene lived for a brief time in Tioga, ND and moved to the Knowlton area where they ranched. Eventually they returned to Baker. Gene passed away on April 11, 1976. Doris then met and married Henry Hastig on February 21, 1978, at Kinney, MN. Joining this union where Tammy, Randy and Henry. In 1971, Doris began a career working as an Eligibility Tech in the Fallon County Public Assistance Office in Baker. Doris?s job also took her to Carter and Wibaux Counties. In 1997, Doris retired from the Public Assistance Office after 27 years of dedicated, faithful and courteous service to those she assisted. Doris went above and beyond to help those who were in need. It was her unselfish acts that earned her the Baker Chamber of Commerce award of Humanitarian of the Year, two years in a row. Doris was an active member of the LDS Church, where she taught Primary, Sunday School; was Music Director and worked in the Relief Society. Doris was a member of the Fallon County Council on Aging, AARP, served on the Action for Eastern Montana Board and was also involved in the local 4-H, Girl Scouts and sang in the O?Fallon Community Choir. Doris? love was for her church, community and most importantly, her family. Doris passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker. Doris is survived by her children, Barbara McFadden, Helena, MT, Alice (Randy) Atwood, Helper, UT, Gail (Bob Uecker) Skidmore, Yakima, WA, Gene (Karen) Skidmore, Smith Land, KY, Marlon (Donna) Skidmore, Billings, MT, Tammy (Keith) Long, Aurora, CO, Randy (Lisa) Hastig, Baker, MT and Henry (Mia) Hastig, Plevna, MT; two brothers, Art (Kathy) Linden, Golden Valley, MN and Alvin (Cheryl) Linden, Walla Walla, WA; 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lena, her husbands, Gene Skidmore and Henry Hastig, and her two sisters, Alice Linden and Agnes Braun. Arrangements are under the direction of the Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker, MT.
