Doris Hinman

Funeral services for Doris Hinman, 89, of Baker, MT, will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Baker.

Doris passed away in her sleep on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Superior Care Villa in Baker.

Doris Jean was born September 11, 1928 in Beach, ND, the daughter of Stener and Ida (Nordin) Ekre. Growing up, she attended school in Beach, graduating in 1946. Doris married Donald F. Hinman on October 25, 1947 in Bemidji, MN. Their marriage was blessed with daughter, Beverly and son, Donald Jr. Following their marriage, the couple farmed near Sentinel Butte, ND. In 1962, they moved to Baker, MT. Doris was well known for her cooking in various cafes throughout the years. Best known for the years she cooked at the Green Acres Club. Doris enjoyed playing cards, fishing, camping, puzzles, sewing, reading and she especially loved her tomatoes in her vegetable garden. She took pleasure helping her husband restore old Model A cars, which they toured with throughout MT, accompanied by the Baker Car Club, many parades, car shows with longtime friends Fritz and Ruby Goerndt, usually dressed in period clothing for fun. She treasured the time spent with her granddaughters, they were her pride and joy. She was a fun-loving grandma and always smiling.

Doris looked forward to Rev 21:4 and John 5:28, 29 coming true when death will be no more and those now asleep in death will be resurrected to a paradise on earth. Reading and believing in these scriptures gave her great comfort and peace.

Doris is survived by her son, Donald B. (Sue) Hinman of Rapid City, SD; daughter, Beverly Hinman of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Angela Strasheim, Corina (Bill) Quinney and Emily (Tony) King; great-grandchildren Michael, Alexis and Kylie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stener and Ida Ekre; husband, Donald Hinman; brothers, Sherman, Robert and Alan Ekre; and sister, Elsie Jones.
