Doris Knudson

Doris Ramsland was born July 22, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York to Einar and Alma (Olsen) Ramsland. She spent numerous years working for Marsh & McLennan Insurance on Wall Street. Doris met Clifford Knudson during a trip to North Dakota. They were married on November 21, 1964, and together had two daughters, Fay and Joy. Doris and Clifford farmed and ranched near Almont for many years before retiring and moving to New Salem. She enjoyed gardening, cross-stitch, bible studies, teaching Sunday school and traveling with Cliff. Montana and Minnesota were their favorite travel destinations. Doris was thrilled to become a grandma and loved spending time with her grandson Jasper. In later years, she enjoyed volunteering at Elm Crest Manor.

Doris is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Fay and Larry Doll and Joy and Nathan Fetting; grandson, Jasper; one sister-in-law, Ramona Sorneson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; brother Einar; and sisters, Alfheld, Evelyn & Alice.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, Samaritan’s Purse or The Navigators ministry.

A visitation for Doris Knudson, 95, of New Salem will be held from 2:00pm to 3:00pm CT, Monday, October 23, 2023, at the Elm Crest Manor Chapel in New Salem. A private family burial will follow at Almont Cemetery.

Doris passed away Friday, October 13, 2023, at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem.
