Doris ?Doni? Muggli, 85, Dickinson, died peacefully at her home on June 12, 2005. The memorial mass will be at 10:00 A. M. , Saturday, June 18, 2005 at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church, Dickinson, ND. A Prayers and Memories gathering will take place at Price-Murphy Funeral Home on Friday, June 17, 2005, at 7:00 p. m. Doris Kathleen Hennessy was born January 1, 1920 in Buxton, North Dakota, the daughter of Michael and Mayme (McMahon) Hennessy. She attended the University of ND and received a Bachelor of Arts in Literature/Journalism in 1942. Doni worked for the Wahpeton, ND newspaper before enlisting in the United States Navy WAVES. Lt. (J. G. ) Hennessy served in the censorship office for the Navy in New York City, NY until 1946. On May 20, 1946 she married her college sweetheart Norbert Muggli, in St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND. Doni and Norb celebrated 50 years of love and marriage with their family and friends in May 1996. Norbert passed away April 7, 1997 at their Mesa, Arizona home. Doni served on the inaugural Board of Regents for the University of Mary; Board of Trustees for St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center; and was a founding member of the United Fund, now known as the United Way of Dickinson. She was active in the Ladies Golf Association, Leisure World Chorus, Mesa Rose Society, Catholic Daughters, 4-H, Book Club, and PEO Chapter B. Doni ?The Ace? was her name and tennis was her game. She enjoyed many many years of tennis matches and tennis friends in both Dickinson and Mesa. Mascot Glad-Ays accompanied her to tennis gatherings in ND and AZ. Doni is survived by her children; Mary Ann and Pat Haws, Avon, MN, John and Lois Muggli, Waite Park, MN, and Jane Muggli, Medora, ND; grandchildren John, Jimmy and Annie Haws, Katie and Joe Muggli; one sister Myrtle Manzer, Pacific Grove, CA; one brother Bill and June Hennessy, Grand Forks, ND; two sisters-in-law Carolyn Hennessy, Mesa, AZ and Noreen Carroll, Billings, MT; one brother-in-law Fr. Florian Muggli, O. S. B. , Collegeville, MN; and nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Norbert; sisters Pearl Boyle, Alice Illa, Hazel Mimmack, Madonna ?Chub? Parson; brothers John ?Bud? Hennessy, EJ ?Buzz? Hennessy, and cherished friends. We will keep telling the last great joke and laughing in her memory.
