Funeral services for Dorothea Pelton, 98, of Killdeer, ND will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the St. John?s Lutheran Church in Killdeer with Pastor Steve Schou officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Dorothea passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at the Hill Top Home of Comfort, Killdeer, ND. Dorothea Owens was born December 14, 1909, the daughter of William Price and Ethel Vene (Allen) Owens at Manning, North Dakota. She grew up and lived on the ranch East of Manning until the family moved to Oakdale, North Dakota in 1924. Dot, as she was known by many, graduated from Killdeer High School in 1929. She then attended Normal School at Dickinson College where she received her teaching certificate. Dot taught school in the Oakdale area until her marriage to Leslie Pelton in 1932. They ranched in the Badlands from 1933 to 2004. Leslie passed away in 1993. Dot remained on the ranch until December, 2004 when she entered the Hill Top Home of Comfort due to failing health. Dot loved all animals, especially her horses, dogs and her donkeys of which she had many in her life. Dot was a member of ?50 years in the Saddle? club and the North Dakota Stockgrowers. She will be remembered for her generosity and interest in the Dunn County Museum in Dunn Center, North Dakota. Dot was always the first to help out a friend or neighbor. She is survived by a half sister, Ethel Erbstoesser, Golden Valley, ND; a sister-in-law, Lillie Alldredge, Florida; three nieces: Arlene (Dean) Helling, Golden Valley, Penelope Moore, Silverton, CO, Pam (Larry) Weitzner, Atlanta, GA; three nephews: James ?Butch? Palmer, Atlanta, GA; Mike Palmer, Florida and David (Lucy) Erbstoesser, Bismarck, ND; She was cared for by many friends and neighbors who were like family to her and she appreciated each and every one of them. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leslie; her daughter, Dory Jacques; a step father, a sister, Mildred Davis; a half-brother, James Palmer; a niece, Ann Davis; and two nephews, Con Davis and Bruce Palmer.
