The Funeral Mass for Dorothea Renner, 89, of Dickinson, will be held at 1:30 p. m. , Thursday, March 17, 2011 at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church with Father Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Burial will take place later this spring in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation for Dorothea will be from 1:00 p. m. to 6:00 p. m. , Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary & Vigil Service being held at 4:00 p. m. in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home. Dorothea passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011 at St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson. Dorothea Dvorak was born August 14, 1921 on the family farm south of Dickinson, the daughter of John and Anna (Ridl) Dvorak. She attended school in Dickinson graduating from Central High School. Before receiving her teaching certificate from Dickinson State Teachers College, she taught for one year at Ash Coulee School. She then moved to Paris, TN, where she worked in a shirt factory during World War II. After her first daughter, Betty was born, the family moved to Seattle, WA, until the war ended. She then returned to Dickinson and has made her home here ever since. Dorothea was employed in the dietary department at St. Joseph?s Hospital for nearly 20 years, most years as 1st cook on the morning shift. After her retirement, she volunteered for several years at St. Joseph?s Hospital as an escort and with Hospice. Dorothea enjoyed traveling to places such as Rome, England and the Bahamas as well as through out the United States. She was known for her welcoming smile and greeting all those she met. Dorothea was a very hardworking, well organized person. She was a member of St. Joseph?s Hospital Auxiliary and Rebecca?s. Dorothea is survived by one son, Ed (Jo-Gay) Renner of Hebron; six daughters, Betty Frank of Dickinson, Cindy Renner of Dickinson, Judie (Jim) Rutherford of Blue Ridge, TX, Pat Heinsen of Wahkon, MN, Polly (Mike) Mungle of Marble Hill, MO and Jeanette (Steve) Stolle of Columbia Heights, MN; one sister, Mary Ann Culver of Dickinson; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Dvorak; three brothers, Henry, John and Albert Dvorak; two sisters, Emily Hedge and Sylvia Pavlicek; and one son-in-law, Erich Heinsen.
