Funeral services for Dorothy M. Anton, 80, of Dickinson, ND will be 10:00 a. m. Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father James Braaten celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dickinson. Visitiation will be Tuesday, August 22, 2006 from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Wednesday visitation will be from 8:00 a. m. to 9:00 a. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Dorothy passed away Thursday, August 17, 2006 at St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson, ND. Dorothy Margaret Anton was born February 7, 1926 in South Heart, ND to George and Josephine (Krushensky) Metz. She grew up on the family farm and attended area grade schools before finishing high school at Model High in Dickinson. After graduation, Dorothy attended Dickinson Teacher’s School where she earned her teaching certificate. She began teaching at rural grade schools and eventually moved on to St. Joseph’s and St. Wenceslas schools. At a community dance, Dorothy met Joseph Andrew Anton and the two were married on June 16, 1948 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson. The couple made their home in Dickinson where they raised their family of seven children. The family moved to the Anton family farm for several years before Joseph’s health brought them back to Dickinson. In 1981 Dorothy returned to school at DSU and earned her LPN certificate. She then worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital for a year before purchasing the Uniforms Unique which she operated for over 13 years. Dorothy spent the next nine years as a senior companion for the Lutheran Social Services where she made many close friends. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Parish and served as greeter and gift bearer, a member of Golden Grad Society at DSU and served as Secretary 94-95 and Vice President 95-96, member of Senior Companion, Germans from Russia Heritage Society, RSVP, Volunteer of St. Luke’s, Pioneer Card Club and organized the Catholic Daughters of America Pinochle Club gatherings. Survivors include five sons: Joseph S. (Marina) Anton, Imperial Beach, CA, Gary P. Anton, Missoula, MT, Jerry Anton, Silverthorne, CO, William E. “Bill” (Mona) Anton, Klamath Falls, OR, and Keith A. Anton, Dickinson; two daughters: Gloria J. (Greg) Horton, Grand Forks, ND and Dolores D. Anton, Silverthorne, CO; seven sisters: Florence Mettler, Dickinson, Victoria “Vicky” Keany, Aneheim, CA, Lorraine “Lori” Wolstoncroft, Long Beach, CA, Hildegard “Hilde” Foust, Long Beach, CA, Viola “Vi” Stults, Eugene, OR, Sr. Christiana Metz, Grand Prairie, TX and Virginia “Ginny” Aragon, Stanton, CA; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Anton, parents: George and Josephine Metz; two brothers: Louis G. Metz and William G. Metz and a sister, Tillie Garrison.
