Funeral services for Dorothy Clark, 69, of New England, will be 1:30 p. m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church, New England, N. D. with Rev. Jerry Erickson officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p. m. to 5 p. m. Sunday, at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson. Dorothy passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at Medcenter One in Bismarck. Dorothy Basaraba was born June 2, 1937, the daughter of John and Anna (Gulka) Basaraba. She graduated from Belfield High School in 1955 and then attended business college for one year. Dorothy and her husband, Duane F. Clark, lived in Frankfurt, Germany, for two years while Duane served in the U. S. Army. After returning to the United States, she and Duane were co-owners of the Hettinger County Herald and Slope Messenger newspapers in New England for 30 years, from 1958 to 1988. Later Dorothy was employed for several years at Herbergers, Dickinson. Dorothy married Duane F. Clark on April 9, 1955. She was a member of Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church and Bernina Sewing Club. In addition to being her four daughters? and grandchildren?s No. 1 sports fan and cheerleader, her interests included horses and trail riding, sewing, quilting, flower gardens and holiday entertaining. She is survived by: her husband, Duane, New England; four daughters, Pamela (Michael) Stein, Bismarck, Sandra (James) Wieser, Dickinson, Karla Clark, Littleton, CO, Lisa (Steve) Hoffman, Larkspur, CO; three brothers, Marvin Basaraba, Belfield, John Jr. (Sonny) Basaraba, DeBarry, Fla. , Jim Basaraba, Williston; her mother, Anna Basaraba, Belfield and five grandchildren, Jardin, Kaitland and Austin Ard, Clark Wieser and Haley Hoffman. She was preceded in death by her father, John Basaraba, and sister, Dorie McKenzie.
