Funeral Mass for Dorothy Conlon, 92, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Father Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Burial will follow in Dickinson Cemetery.
Visitation for Dorothy will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. , Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary & Prayer Service taking place at 5:00 p.m.
Dorothy passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson.
Dorothy Kordonowy was born June 10, 1919 in Belfield, ND, the daughter of Metro and Antonia Kordonowy. She grew up on the family farm attending school in Belfield and Dickinson. On July 2, 1940, Dorothy and Donald Conlon were united in marriage in Belfield, ND. The couple made their home in Dickinson where they raised their family of four children. Later, she worked at Badlands Human Service Center in Dickinson. Dorothy enjoyed spending time gardening, cross-stitching and playing bridge. Golfing was a favorite pastime and she was an excellent golfer. She was well known for creating beautiful greeting cards. Dorothy loved and cherished her children and grandchildren. She had a very giving heart and was always willing to donate her time to help out others. Her great sense of humor will be greatly missed. Dorothy was a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters as well as a member of the Ukrainian Cultural Institute, St. Anthony Club, American Cancer Society and St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, where she served as President for two years.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, Jeff (Loretta) Conlon, Bismarck and Greg (Debbie) Conlon, Dallas, TX; two daughters, Jeri Bunke, Parker, CO and Donna (Wint Johnson) Hunter, Detroit Lakes, MN; eight grandchildren, Lucas, Emily, Jeremy, Jamie, Shannon, Dawn, Heather and C. R.; nine great-grandchildren and many good friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Metro and Antonia Kordonowy; her husband, Don; two brothers and two sisters.
