Funeral Services for Dorothy Anastasia Kuntz Dukart, 99, of Rochester, MN, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 11, 2023 at The River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home.
Visitation for Dorothy will be from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Friday February 10th at Macken Funeral Home, and will resume and hour prior to the service on Saturday.
A second service for Dorothy will take place 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 22, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in South Heart, ND with Father Shane Campbell celebrating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation for Dorothy will be from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 21st at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, ND with a rosary and vigil being held at 6:00 p.m.
Dorothy passed away January 6, 2023 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester.
Dorothy was born in Stark County, near South Heart, North Dakota. She grew up on the family farm in New England and attended school in Daglum. She married Ludwig Dukart, Jr. on Nov. 28, 1944. They resided in the Dickinson area until relocating to Rochester Minnesota in 1955 where they raised their family. They were later divorced.
Dorothy worked at St Mary's Hospital as a housekeeper from 1955 until she retired in 1989. During her life, Dorothy devoted time to service work including Saint Pius Verein in Schefield, ND, the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, Saint Francis Church Rosary Group, and Women of the Moose where she helped to start the Rochester charter. After retiring, she volunteered at Head Start as a Foster Grandparent where she was recognized as one of the "Ten Who Make a Difference". She also sewed doll clothes for Head Start and crocheted booties for the Pregnancy Center in Hawaii.
Dorothy's favorite pastimes were playing cards (especially Durak), crafting and crocheting. Dorothy enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and walking.
Dorothy is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, August and Florence Kuntz; brother, Peter Kuntz; five children, Virginia Vermeersch (Peter McMahon), Valerie Wiebold (Robert Slavik), Gregory (Debra) Dukart, Gwendolyn (Steven) Hicks, Gordon (Buffie) Dukart; eleven grandchildren, Scott (Michelle) Vermeersch, Troy (Stacey) Vermeersch, Dustin Wiebold (Kari Bachler), Shannon (Joseph) Halvorson, Jason (Terra) Dukart, Jennifer (Troy) Meyer, Tobey (Alison) Hicks, Tera (Jason) Schmitt, Todd (Rachel) Hicks, Haley Dukart, Zachary Dukart; and twenty-two great grandchildren; Tyler Vermeersch, Christian Vermeersch, Abigail Vermeersch, Aidan Vermeersch, Addison Vermeersch, Layla Wiebold, Amelia Halvorson, Joseph Halvorson, Gavin Dukart, McKenna Dukart, Jayse Hicks, Jaxson Hicks, Lennon Schmitt, Rayne Schmitt, McCartnie Schmitt, Orion Schmitt, Harmony Hicks, Justus Hicks, Elijah Hicks, Ezekiel Hicks, Nora Hicks and Lynkin; step great grandchilden Alyssa (Jonah) Todd , Bailee Bartel, Daiton Bartel, Trinity Bartel; step great great grandchildren Emma Todd and Riley Todd.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Valentine and Mary (Dolechek) Kuntz; sisters, Magdalene (Albert) Pachl, Otillia Kuntz, Darlene Kuntz; brothers, John (Bertha) Kuntz, Arnold, (Lois) Kuntz; son-in-law, Gerald Vermeersch; son, Glenn Francis Dukart; and granddaughter, Lisa Vermeersch.
