Dorothy Elizabeth Gress, 73, Dickinson, died June 8, 2004, in Bismarck, after a short illness. Funeral services are pending. Dorothy Elizabeth Trhlik was born December 12, 1931, on a farm in Mineral Springs, North Dakota and attended schools at Mineral Springs and St. Josephs in Dickinson, ND. She married Ray Gress, Jr. of Dickinson, North Dakota and raised two children Mark and Heidi. They later were divorced. Dorothy lived in Yakima, Washington for many years and was employed at St. Elizabeth?s Hospital in the Administration Area. In her earlier years Dorothy worked for Kings Super Value and was owner of the Shamrock Bar in Dickinson. She also worked for Williston Packing Plant in Bookkeeping. She loved to read, crochet and knit and enjoyed making hand crafted items for her relatives and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching baseball. During her earlier years, Dorothy was an avid bowler. Survivors include her mother, Anna (Trhlik) Hartinger, Yakima, WA; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Ruth Gress, Dickinson, ND; daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Marvin Zastoupil of Dickinson, ND; sisters, Colleen Breshears and LaVonne Hartinger of Selah, WA; brothers, Howard Hartinger of Yakima, and Gary Hartinger of Stanfield; grandsons: Ryan, Rob and Troy Zastoupil, Cody Gress and granddaughter Sarah Gress; and great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by: her father, Leonard William Hartinger of Yakima, WA and one grandson, Cole Gress of Dickinson, ND. Dorothy was a wonderful person and was loved very much by all that knew her. She will be deeply missed.
