Dorothy Mae Schwartz was born on May 26, 1933 to Gottlieb and Pauline (Oberlander) Schwartz, the oldest daughter of ten kids. Dorothy grew up on the farm north of Reeder and graduated from Reeder High School.

Dorothy married Walter Hoff on June 15, 1953 in Dickinson. The couple was blessed with five children, Dan, Dave, Deb, Doug, and Dina.

Dorothy worked as a school secretary for Belfield Public Schools for more than twenty years, until 1990. After retirement, she worked at Riddle and Ringer Jewelry.

Dorothy enjoyed hosting coffee for friends and family. She also loved to shop and match her accessories to her outfits. She wouldn’t leave the house unless she was dressed to the nines. Dorothy was also an avid poker player.

Dorothy was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Red Hat Society, and several dedicated birthday clubs.

In the summer, Dorothy’s flowers were very important to her. She always had time for her “poopsies” – her grandkids – and helping them plant and water their own flowers. Dorothy’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Dan (Barb) Hoff of Chaska, MN, Dave Hoff of Omaha, NE, Deb Dorval (Scott Weiand) of Dickinson, Doug Hoff of Dickinson, and Dina (Scott) Roberts of Dickinson; grandchildren, Nick (Tori) Hoff, Alex (Derrick) Engel, Dilan (Cara) Hoff, Darik (Claire) Hoff, Danae (Aaron) Erickson, Tyler Hoff, Caden Roberts, Devany (Tony) Kostelecky; great-grandchildren, Justice (Ben) Douthit, Landon and Easton Hoff, Harrison and Violet Hoff, Hemingway Hoff, and Kacen Kostelecky; great-great-grandchild, Kyree Douthit; siblings, Richard (Lois) Schwartz, Darlene Finck, Carol (Harry) Koppinger, Gary (Lynda) Schwartz, and Dianne Schwartz; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter; parents, Gottlieb and Pauline; grandson, Tarin Dorval; and siblings, Donnie Schwartz, Fred “Fritz” Schwartz, Edward Schwartz, and Margie Anderson.
