Dorothy R. Kostelecky, 84 of Dickinson passed on to the Lord on January 19, 2011 at Medcenter One Hospital in Bismarck. Dorothy?s final days were spent being surrounded by her family. Dorothy?s Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a. m. , Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Father Joshua Ehli celebrating. Dorothy will be put to rest at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 10:00 a. m. CST. Visitation for Dorothy will be from 12:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. , Monday, January 24, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil Service being held at 7:00 p. m. Dorothy Rose Kostelecky was born on April 11, 1926 to Louis Binstock and Katherine (Bren) Binstock. She grew up on a farm near New Hradec where she attended country school and is one of nine girls in the family. Dorothy met and married George J. Kostelecky on June 22, 1942 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Together they moved northwest of Dickinson to farm and ranch where they raised their family. In 1975, they retired and moved to Dickinson. Dorothy enjoyed her travels where she spent many vacations in their motor home traveling the US and also was an avid snowbird, enjoying many winters in their home in Arizona. Dorothy?s retirement years were spent bowling, golfing, playing cards, gambling and having coffee with her family and friends. She also enjoyed spending many summers at the lake fishing and enjoying the outdoors with her family and friends. Dorothy collected cookbooks from every state. She was a great cook and loved to bake Kolaches, Rahlicky, and pies, which was always a special request of her family. She also had a special interest in knitting, crafts, gardening and loved working with her plants and flowers. Dorothy especially loved spending time with her family and loved any opportunity to be with her grandchildren. She was also known for her ?giggle? and whenever she would giggle, she had everyone giggling. Dorothy is a very special lady who will be missed by all that knew her. She was member of Catholic Daughters. Dorothy is survived by: George, her husband of 68 years; three sons; Elmer (Kathleen) Kostelecky of Black Hawk, SD; Rodney (Dawn) Kostelecky of Dickinson; and Gordon Kostelecky of Dickinson; grandsons, Ryan (Lori) Kostelecky of Apache Junction, AZ; and Wayne Kostelecky of Black Hawk, SD; Brent Kostelecky of San Diego, CA; granddaughters, Tennille (Dan) Weising of Mandan; and Whitney (Dustin) Buckman of Dickinson; and sisters, Rose Steffan, of Dickinson; Anne Privratsky of Dickinson; Josephine Privratsky of Dickinson; and Lillian Sadowsky of Albany, OR. Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Norman; parents, Louie and Katherine Binstock; and sisters, Mildred Privratsky, Minnie Privratsky, Martha Dukart and Katherine Buresh.
