A funeral Mass for Dorothy Kubas, 93, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a. m. , Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Entombment will take place in the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation for Dorothy will be from 2:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Monday, October 3 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a rosary and vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m. Dorothy passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Dorothy Lillian Kudrna was born August 14, 1923 in Dickinson, the daughter of Frank A. and Anastasia Kudrna. She grew up on the family farm northwest of New Hradec and received her education at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School in New Hradec. At an early age she began helping her parents with chores on the farm. On June 16, 1941, Dorothy and Emil T. Kubas were united in marriage at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. To this union five children were born: Donovan, Marie, Quentin, Rita and Laurie. Together, Dorothy and Emil raised their children and farmed their land until 1948 when they moved to Dickinson. Dorothy was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her family. She loved being outdoors and spent a majority of her life tending her garden and canning the produce. Dorothy loved working in the kitchen and will be remembered for her Czech cooking and baked goods. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy and faithfully attended all their sporting events. Dorothy also enjoyed going to her farm riding the lawn tractor. She enjoyed spending time walking outside or at the WRCC. Dorothy had an infectious smile that came very easy when she greeted all. She was a member of the Dakota Czech Singers, Catholic Daughters, and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where she had a weekly adoration hour for over 20 years. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Donovan R. (Patricia) of Minot, and Quentin E. (Karen) of Great Falls, MT; daughters, Marie Piette of Prior Lake, MN, Rita (Bob) Willer of Bismarck, and Laurie (Paul) Steffes of Dickinson; 12 grandchildren, Kim (Scott) Mitzel, Todd (Stacey) Kubas, Troy (Sheila) Kubas, Karie (Dave) Starks, Tracy Rixen, Michael (Heather) Kubas, Krystal (Brent) Peterson, Andrea Woods, Jessica (Ramon) Nunez, Suzanne (Damian) Sobolik, Kyle (Amanda) Steffes and Kathryn (Zach) Harrington; 26 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son-in-law, David Piette; a brother, Laudie.
