Dorothy M. Kudrna, 90, Dickinson, died Saturday, January 28, 2006 at St. Benedict?s Health Center, Dickinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a. m. , Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Jerry Kautzman celebrating. Interment will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery, South Heart. Visitation will be 11:30 a. m. to 12 noon Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at St. Benedict?s Health Center, continuing at 1 p. m. to 9 p. m. at Price-Murphy Funeral Home. There will be a rosary and prayer service at 7 p. m at Price-Murphy Funeral Home. Dorothy M. Semerad was born November 23, 1915, in rural Dickinson, North Dakota to John and Anna (Frenzel) Semerad. She attended a rural school and worked on the family farm until she married Victor Kudrna on June 4, 1934. They lived on the farm 4 ? miles southeast of South Heart, until they retired into Dickinson in 1972. She worked at Western Livestock Company for nine years and retired to do volunteer work for the Arc-Aid and other organizations for six years. Dorothy enjoyed crafts, gardening, flowers, cooking, baking, playing cards old time music, and making quilts for her children and grandchildren. Kolaches and sour cream twists were her family favorites. Dorothy entered St. Benedict?s Health Center in October of 2004 and resided there until her death. She was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church, South Heart where she was a member of the Christian Mothers and served as an officer for 16 years. Dorothy later joined St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson and was a member of St. Ann?s Altar Society. She is survived by: her children, Leroy (Isabel) Kudrna, Billings, MT, Ronald (Shirley) Kudrna, Mandan, Eugene (Monika) Kudrna, Dickinson, Daphne (Floyd) Duttenhefer, Underwood, ND, and David (Joan) Kudrna, Dickinson; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Al (Edith) Kudrna, Jamestown; two sisters-in-law, Emma (Victor) Semerad, Dickinson and Alice (Ed) Semerad, Spokane, WA, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Anna Semerad; husband, Victor in 1978; four brothers, Adolph, Vince, Victor and Ed Semerad; eight sisters, Rose, Margaret, Justine, Emma, Minnie, Eleanor, Jennie and Josephine.
